On October 27, 2026, the US broker Robinhood enabled the circulation of RLUSD on its own blockchain, Robinhood Chain, and the trading platform Bitstamp. The company plans to incorporate this dollar-backed digital asset into its main application before the end of the year, providing potential access to its 28.6 million funded accounts, according to the issuer, Ripple.
The integration places the Ripple asset within the investment platform's operational infrastructure. RLUSD was launched in December 2024 and has a circulating supply exceeding 2.5 billion dollars. Johann Kerbrat, general manager of Robinhood Crypto, confirmed that the alliance seeks to connect retail operations with settlement and financing tools aimed at the professional segment.
Corporate treasury management and institutional settlement
The technical agreement between both entities includes the adoption of Ripple Treasury to manage Robinhood's global cash movements. This software handles payments, cash flow forecasting, and financial risk mitigation. Its functions include netting between corporate subsidiaries, a mechanism that internally offsets debit and credit balances between divisions of the same company to reduce the number of external bank transfers.
In the institutional sphere, Robinhood will use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger network to execute final settlement of trades on Bitstamp. Robinhood completed the acquisition of this digital asset exchange in June 2025 for approximately 200 million dollars. The majority of trading volume on Bitstamp comes from corporate clients and investment funds.
Credit lines and futures contracts with Ripple Prime
The institutional brokerage unit Ripple Prime provides Bitstamp with credit lines and commercial margin loans in nearly 20 digital assets. Ripple acquired this division, previously known as Hidden Road, in April 2025 for 1.25 billion dollars. These tools allow professional traders to leverage positions and obtain immediate liquidity.
Both companies confirmed that Bitstamp institutional clients will be able to trade perpetual futures contracts before the end of 2026. These financial derivatives allow investors to take positions on the future price of an asset without a mandatory expiration date. Ripple Prime users already have direct access to spot trading within the Bitstamp platform.
Coexistence with the Global Dollar Network
The adoption of RLUSD places Robinhood in a commercial duality, given that the entity participated in 2024 in the creation of the Global Dollar Network to support USDG, an alternative issued by Paxos. Entities such as Kraken, Galaxy Digital, Anchorage Digital, and Bullish also participate in that structure, sharing the revenue derived from the reserves backing the asset's issuance.
In July 2026, the consortium determined that USDG would function as the default lendable asset in Robinhood Earn, the platform's financial yield program. Robinhood has not clarified whether RLUSD will share that same operational space, nor has it specified what percentage of its user base will meet the technical or regulatory conditions to use the Ripple asset once it debuts in the application.
The market awaits Robinhood's third-quarter 2026 financial results, which will reflect the performance of Robinhood Chain since its launch on July 1, following a 34% drop in crypto revenue during the first quarter to 134 million dollars.
